Images from Samuel’s Home Birth | San Antonio Birth Photographer02.22.12

I had the honor of documenting Samuel’s birth at home two weeks ago ~ it was a very long night, and Samuel’s mother labored until early in the morning {about 5 am}.  I can’t express enough just how inspiring this birth was.  Samuel’s parents worked so well together, and there was so much love and strength in their home.

Like a lot of families out there, the path to Samuel’s birth was filled with challenges and difficulties.  While some families seem to expand effortlessly, others struggle against all kinds of barriers and roadblocks.  The son that this family has prayed and hoped for so long has finally arrived, and it was a joy to watch and document his birth and first embrace by his parents.  And Samuel’s loving and attentive midwifery team from Empowerment Birthing were nothing short of amazing.

Here are a few images from the night ~ I always take great care to protect the privacy of my birth clients, and I refrain from posting more intimate and emotional images on this blog.  While most photographers get to display their most favorite images for everyone to see, the vast majority of the best images I capture are for my clients’ eyes only.  I love this…there’s something exciting about knowing that I can provide documentation of such a special and unique memory.  A memory meant to be seen only by those who experienced it, and their most trusted family and friends.

Enjoy :)
