Hello, my name is Kara and I’m the owner and lead photographer at Open Book Studios. But this business isn’t really about me…it’s about you. My purpose is to document your family for you, and to grow as a person through your experiences and stories. And most importantly, I want us to have a great time in the process!
It’s been a long journey to arrive where I am now. I completed a BBA in Accounting and recently, an MBA in Project Management. I love entrepreneurship, and I’m a total nerd for spreadsheets and statistics. I recognized a long time ago that I need more from my trade as a business professional in order to be happy and fulfilled. I need to get my hands dirty and inject a little more life into my 9-5.
In photography, I found my creative outlet and a place where I truly fit in the business world. Open Book Studios is in the business of people, and I couldn’t be more happy about that.
Family photography is my specialty and I love photographing family milestones like births, and helping you document your family as it grows and changes. I invest in photography for my family, and I hope you will do the same for yours. You can always buy a new couch or television, but you can never go back in time and buy portraits of your children. The time for that is now. I believe that for you, and for me.
When I don’t have my camera in hand, I’m either listening to The Clash, riding my bike, or exploring my home of downtown San Antonio with my husband. I’m also a vegetarian that eats a lot more cheese than I should (alas, I really adore cheese!).
